Before the tragedy, the deceased had also played for Heartland and Elkanemi Warriors. The deceased began his professional football career with his hometown team, Kano Pillars FC, in Kano. Nigerian footballer Bello Musa Kofarmata, who played as a forward for the Kano Pillars, Heartland F.C., Ifeanyi Ubah, and El-Kanemi Warriors, died on November 2, 2022.
Following many trials with the team, Kofarmata signed a contract with IK Start of Norway. With Kano Pillars, he won the 2007–2008 Nigerian Premier League and was the league’s leading scorer with 11 goals. The forward traveled to Europe in August 2008 for a trial with Austria’s LASK, where he participated in one friendly before returning to Kano Pillars at the start of the 2008 campaign.
Kofarmata paid a five million naira fee to join Heartland in January 2010. Left Heartland F.C. after two and a half years and signed with league rivals Kano Pillars.
At the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup, Kofarmata was a supporting member of the Nigeria U20 national team’s roster. On March 3, 2010, he made his senior national team debut for Nigeria by substituting in a 5-2 victory over Congo DR at home.
