Francesco Nuti, a former cabaret performer, film and television comedian, and director, passed away in Rome on Monday at the age of 68 following a protracted illness, according to his family.
His family disclosed this sad news in the following social media statement,
He had been out of the spotlight for a while due to health issues. The Florentine actor had a long career that started in the late 1970s with the Giancattivi cabaret, which featured Athina Cenci and Alessandro Benvenuti.
From there, he entered the film industry and appeared in several successful films. It includes Io, Chiara, and the Dark with the Which Nuti Conquers a David di Donatello, which won the Silver Ribbon for best leading actor and the Golden Globe for best revelation actor.

The Prato native Nuti was best known for his TV work as a member of the Giancattivi trio alongside Alessandro Benvenuti and Athina Cenci.
His first acting role came in the middle of the 1980s. He was known for his role in famous movies like the 1982–1983 triptych directed by Maurizio Ponzi.
Also known for his 1982–1983 films What a Ghostly Silence There Is Tonight, The Pool Hustlers, and Son Contento.
He started directing his films in 1985, and they were all huge successes, including Caruso Pascoski, Son of a Pole (1987), Stregati (1987), Casablanca, Casablanca.
He also directed All the Fault in the Paradise (1985), Willy Signori e vengo da lontano (1990) and Women in Skirts (1991).
The 1990s, however, were a period of decline for the Tuscan director, with films such as OcchioPinocchio (1994), Mr. Fifteen Balls (1998), Io amo Andrea (2000), and Caruso, Zero for Conduct (2001) receiving terrible reviews.
Nuti developed depression and alcoholism in the years that followed, which were compounded by a serious fall in 2006.

Francesco Nuti passed away after seventeen years of suffering and loneliness. He had been unable to work since September 2, 2006, when he was involved in a home accident that left him with a cerebral hematoma.
The depressed actor spent several months in a coma while being cared for by his mother and musician brother Giovanni.
The accident left him seriously damaged his brain and rendered him mute and immobile. In the years that followed, Nuti made a few public appearances on Italian television where his disability was openly exposed.
This led to strong emotional reactions from Nuti’s supporters as well as fury over what was thought to be the exploitation of the former director’s suffering. A second fall on September 21, 2016, resulted in Nuti being hospitalized in serious condition.
Sadly, Nuti’s death news made everyone who knew him in a feeling of deep sorrow. When his daughter Ginevra broke the news of his passing on Monday, she thanked everyone who had helped her father in his final days, notably the personnel at Rome’s Villa Vedre nursing home.
