After conducting a comprehensive investigation, the Lima Police Department identified the homicide suspect. The suspect’s identification was announced in the following statement.
The suspect in the homicides of Romelo Blackman and John Dyes on April 22, 2023, at 438 W. Mckibben St, Lima was identified as Kenyatta Washington, 26 years old of Lima.
On April 24, 2023, an arrest warrant was issued for Kenyatta for the charge of murder. With the assistance of law enforcement in Louisiana, Kenyatta was located and arrested late this evening in Louisiana.
Homicide Shooting: What Happened to Romelo Blackman and John Dyes?
The Lima Police Department is looking into two shootings that happened Saturday night and left two people dead and one injured. Two people are killed and one injured in two shootings in Lima.
Police were called to the scene of a shooting at 438 West McKibben Street shortly after 11 o’clock. Romelo Blackman, 28, and John Dyes, 18, both from Lima, were found dead from gunshot wounds when they arrived.
Gunfire was reported at 658 S. Roberts Avenue less than 20 minutes earlier, at around 10:50 on Saturday night. Shondale Mayo Jr., age 21, was discovered in the apartment complex and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
