Toy Wallace dead: What happened?

A death investigation is currently being carried out by Polk County officials.

In addition to conducting an investigation, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) reported that they are close to the scene of a crash on US 92 near Wabash Avenue in Lakeland that appears to be connected.

Officials said the crash happened in the 2300 block of West Memorial around 2:30 a.m. on Friday.

The incident claimed the life of Toy Wallace, a Florida resident from Lakeland. There have been reports, however, that some witnesses claim the guy was shot, which caused the accident.

It also seems that there are multiple witness accounts of the incident involving Toy Wallace. Another witness reportedly saw the white car that Wallace was driving and heard a gunshot before he crashed his vehicle.

It’s unclear at this time what led to the crash and the gunshot, but this information may be useful to investigators as they try to piece together what happened. Several details have not been released, and police have not disclosed whether the death investigation stems from injuries sustained in the crash or from an incident before it.

Road closed?

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the highway from Wabash Avenue to Chestnut Road was closed for several hours.

The investigation did not involve Kathleen High School or any of its students or staff, but it did impact school traffic.

As a result, Polk County Sheriff’s Office advised anyone dropping off students at Kathleen High School to use Crutchfield Road on the north side of the high school.

It appears that the US 92 reopened in both directions after being closed for several hours Friday morning as Polk County deputies investigated the incident.
