Police officer Joe Johnson died and another suffered serious injuries in the Nyssa incident, according to the reports. Reports state that Officer Joe Johnson was hurt during the altercation and died as a consequence.

After the police responded to a domestic disturbance, the suspect is said to have shot at least one officer before fleeing the scene.

Police started looking because they thought the culprit would be close to Parma. The suspect car, a 1994 Suburban with Oregon license plates, was reportedly found in Nyssa, but the culprit has not yet been located.

In accordance with a press release from the Malheur County District Attorney, Officer Johnson was called in response to a report of a violent individual causing damage to property and posing a threat to nearby residents in Nyssa. Johnson learned that the suspect had left the area and was driving through the city as he was responding.

Johnson pursued the guy until he stopped at a residence on Locust and Third Street in Nyssa. As soon as Johnson stopped, an armed subject began firing at Officer Johnson,” the press release claims. Officer Johnson was shot and killed before there was a chance to retaliate. Castro immediately left the scene.

Eric Anderson wrote: “Please pray for Joe Johnson and his family. A very dear friend of mine lost his life last night near Nyssa Oregon in the line of duty to a gun shot. He is a hero and a great man. Had a loving heart and a great dad of 2 kids. We love you Joe. Thank you so much. You were one of the great ones. “
