What happened to Michael Odeyemi?
Michael Odeyemi, or “Yemi the Plug,” a well-known social media influencer and blogger from Port Harcourt, died on Tuesday at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, prompting protests over claims that he was not provided the right medical care.
Tuesday, a group of irate youngsters protesting the death of Odeyemi stopped the UPTH’s entrance gate.
The angry youths alleged that Odeyemi who is an asthmatic patient died due to the alleged delinquency of the nurses on duty at the Accident and Emergency Ward of the hospital.
Yemitheplug’s uncle announced his passing on his official FaceBook page, the statement reads,
Rest in perfect peace to my Nephew, Michael Folorunsho Odeyemi, a popular social media influencer, and model. May your creative and amiable soul find eternal Bliss in God’s bosom.
Yemitheplug cause of death
The social media influencer from Port Harcourt was suffering an asthma attack when neighbors spotted him fighting to breathe and rushed him to the hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday, Nov. 29.
They contend, however, that medical personnel ignored him. Some report that a nurse at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital requested an ID rather than attending to the immediate problem.
Carelessness sucks his soul
Others claim that Yemi was neglected because the staff informed them that they were out of oxygen for him.
Yemi tragically passed away at the hospital. His passing caused outrage, and a group of irate teenagers stopped the entrance to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital while demanding an explanation.
