Tragically, a football fan who had traveled to Qatar for the World Cup has passed away there. Kevin Davies, a supporter of Wales, brought his kid along to the competition.

According to reports, the 62-year-old from Pembrokeshire passed away on Friday, November 24, from natural causes. He didn’t attend the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium to see Wales lose to Iran by a score of 2-0.

According to reports, the Football Association of Wales and fan organizations supporting Wales are providing consular assistance to his family back home.

Following his passing, Davies’ family has been extended an offer of UK consular support. The Football Supporters’ Association Cymru has offered assistance, as they do with other visiting supporters.

The FAW then issued a statement, which read: “Our deepest condolences from everyone at the Football Association of Wales. Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family and friends at this sad time. The FAW is in contact with Kevin’s family to help in whatever way we can.”

FA chief executive Nole Mooney tweeted: “So sorry to hear that one of our Supporters has passed away here. Our condolences go to the family and of course, we are here to support however we can.”

A Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office spokesman, added: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Qatar.”

While the Fan Embassy Wales tweeted on Saturday: “Sadly, we lost one of the Red Walls in Qatar yesterday. His son here in Doha and his family back in Wales have our deepest sympathies. Peace be upon him.”

The Wales FA wrote online in tribute: “Mae CBDC yn cydymdeimlo efo teulu a ffrindiau Kevin Davies. Our deepest condolences from everyone at the Football Association of Wales. Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family and friends at this sad time. The FAW is in contact with Kevin’s family to help in whatever way we can.”

Football Supporters Association Cymru’s Paul Corkrey told the PA news agency: “He was part of the Red Wall and we’re all devastated for him and his family. We’re all like one big family and we lost one of our family members today.” Everyone has been very helpful, and everyone who has been asked for help has come through,” Mr. Corkrey added.

One wrote online: “Thoughts are with Kevin Davies’ family today, a member of our great Red Wall out in Qatar, who has sadly lost his life.” Officials believe more than 2,500 Wales fans have made the trip to Qatar for the tournament. Wales drew their opening game with the USA 1-1 in Group B, before losing to Iran 2-0. They face England as their final group-stage game in the tournament.
