Legendary guitarist Tony Joyce passed away at Royal Darwin Hospital today. Tony was one of the founding members of the Darwin Blues and Roots Club, the precursor to the First Sunday Blues.
In the swinging Darwin ’70s, Tony played with Merv Lewis, Jeff Diamond on bass, and drummer Fred Labessa in Catch 22. Does anyone have memories of this? Spellman’s place, Forge Steakhouse ended up becoming Dicks. They made Spellman a millionaire.
Tony was a musician that lived for his music. His enthusiasm and commitment to any band were exceptional. He shared his knowledge of the guitar with hundreds of students and professionals alike. We thank him for his music.

Some online sources report that Tony Joyce passed away at Royal Darwin Hospital. Neither his family members nor any online media did not reveal the exact cause of death for Tony till now.
