Who is David Lloyd Walther?

A Georgetown man, was detained by the FBI for child pornography allegations. David Lloyd Walther was a 56-year-old man who was a former pastor in a Baptist church in Texas.

Walther was detained by the FBI on suspicion of intentionally looking for, downloading, sharing, and possessing child pornography. On Thursday, he appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Austin. With help from the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, the Round Rock Police Department, and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI San Antonio Division’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force are investigating the case. The Department of Justice initiated Project Safe Childhood, a national campaign, in 2006 to address the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The case was brought as part of this initiative.

Why did the Pastor of Faith Baptist Church got arrested?

A criminal complaint lodged in federal court in Austin claims that David Lloyd Walther, 56, intentionally looked for, downloaded, shared, and owned child pornography. At the time of his alleged offenses, Walther served as the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas.

Walther is charged with downloading child pornography through a file-sharing network called BitTorrent and posting it online. When Walther’s home and car were searched by the authorities, they found two sizable computer hard drives that were filled with child pornography.

Walther made his first court appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Austin today. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
“The FBI San Antonio Division’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, with invaluable assistance from the Round Rock Police Department, is investigating the case. The FBI also appreciates the assistance received by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center,” read an official news release. Walther is charged with the distribution, receipt, transportation, and possession of child pornography.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Texas, David Lloyd Walther was arrested for child pornography.

The FBI San Antonio Division’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, with invaluable assistance from the Round Rock Police Department, is investigating the case. The FBI also appreciates the assistance received by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Devlin is prosecuting the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
