What happened to DJ Stevie Splash?

Paul Brunt a long-time friend of Stevie confirmed the death news of Dj Stevie Splash on his official FaceBook page, the statement reads,

R.I.P. to a special friend. Steve Evans is also known as Stevie Splash former DJ at Sheffield Wednesday match days back in the 80s.

He was a brilliant DJ who passed on work to me when I started in 1979 I learned so much from him and admired his professionalism as a DJ. Many football fans from that era will remember him and probably booked him for their private function.

He opened Sinatra’s nightclub in Sheffield as well as another called Charlie Parkers plus a couple In Wakefield and Bradford. He worked for me in the mid-nineties for a short while. He’s also credited with the 1984 Sheffield Wednesday song We Are The Owls. R.I.P Steve, you were a true legend back in the day.

Paul Cooper

Let’s hope the club honors him in some kind of way at the next home game. He was integral to the good atmosphere created at home games in the 80s. Always remember him DJing in the gate Monday nights & he seemed to always be the DJ in Sinatras on carver street, god bless you, Steve.
