Andrew Scott and his wife died in a hunter valley crash:

Andrew Scott, a former football player and Singleton Roosters coach has tragically died in this Hunter valley bus crash. His beloved wife, Lynan Scott, who was a graduate from the university of Queensland has also died along with him.

They leave behind two beautiful young children. She was from Singleton, New South Wales. Lynn was a mother to two children and supporting wife, who always encourages his husband and his career.

Some report says that their two young children were orphaned in aftermath of wedding tragedy.

Hunter Valley accident:

A mother and daughter from Singleton, a young sportsperson, and a former football player with “a big heart” are among the wedding guests who were named as the victims of a deadly crash.

Here’s what we know so far about the Hunter Valley bus accident.

They were among 35 travelers who had spent Sunday at the charming Wandin Valley Estate attending the wedding ceremony of Madeleine Edsell and Mitchell Gaffney.

After the wedding, the guests (around 40) were picked up by bus or coach and taken away from Wandin Valley Estate in Lovedale.

The tragedy occurred when the coach rolled at a roundabout on Wine Country Drive near the Hunter Motorway off-ramp 12km north of Greta, New South Wales.

At around 11.30 p.m., emergency personnel were rushed to the scene and discovered 10 bodies in the mangled debris along with 25 guests who had been hurt, one of whom was in severe condition.

Who were the victims?

The victims of the Hunter Valley crash ranged from their 20s to their 60s. On Tuesday morning, communities all over Australia’s east coast were left reeling as the identities of those still missing were starting to become known. 

Their respective football and lifesaving clubs paid tribute to Nadene McBride and her daughter Kyah, football players from nearby Singleton; Kane Symons, a local football player, and lifesaver formerly from Tasmania.

Tributes were poured upon former footballer Andrew Scott and his wife Lynan Scott, from Queensland, in statements posted on their Facebook posts. 

One of those killed in the bus accident was Rebecca Mullen, a junior physician employed by Calvary Mater Hospital.

Her coworkers at the Newcastle-based hospital where some of the crash victims are being treated may find it very difficult to handle the tragedy.

Mr. Symons was a Tasmanian native who was residing in Singleton at the time. Mr. Symons was referred to as a “leader, a great bloke, and a mate to many” by the Carlton Park Surf Live Saving Club in a statement.

The “amazing athlete” and leader Kane Symons will be remembered for He was adored by us and will be sorely missed. Sue Moore, the mayor of Singleton, stated that she thought most of the victims were residents of the community.

“As it grows, you realize the amount of family, friends, relatives and the wider community that will be impacted.”

According to Councillor Moore, the area would place a high value on mental health. “We need that space at the moment for people to actually gather their thoughts and then we’ll help them with whatever they need.”

In a memorial post to Nadene and Kyah McBride on Monday, the Sydney Women’s AFL Masters, a social football club for women over 35, sent their sympathies to the neighborhood.

Sydney Women’s AFL Masters stated a tribute to them in a following social media statement,

“Our women’s masters football community is shocked and saddened by the tragic news that Nadene (Nads) McBride and her daughter Kyah have now been named as having passed away in the Singleton wedding bus crash.”

According to reports, her spouse Banger (Graham) is hospitalized. “Our thoughts and sympathy extend to all the friends, families, and teammates of Nads and Kyah and the Singleton football community. Please reach out to each other for support.”

A friend of the McBrides stated: “The world is a little darker without them. Just heartbroken. Love to all of my friends here, prayers to Banger, she said.

To honor individuals who have passed away, the lights at Sydney’s Vivid festival were turned off on Monday at 7.30 p.m. at the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Museum of Contemporary Art, and buildings around Circular Quay.

Who was Andrew Scott?

The first victims of the deadly bus accident on Sunday night have been named. Two of the ten individuals killed were Singleton residents Andrew Scott and his wife Lynan. They leave behind two small children. AFL player Lynan Scott represented the Singleton Roosters. 

One of the passengers is still being treated at the John Hunter Hospital in critical condition, according to NSW Health, while the other eight are in stable condition. At Maitland Hospital, two patients are in stable condition, one is at Mater Hospital, and two are at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Redland-Victoria Point Sharks Football Club also confirmed the passing of its beloved player Andrew Scott in the following social media statement,

“The football community is mourning the loss of former player Andrew Scott and his wife Lynan who passed away in the Hunter Valley this week, the club said.

The club also wrote, “Chisel, as he was known, played for the Bombers in 2014 alongside his brother Luke. He also was a longtime player at the QAFL level with Mt Gravatt where he was part of the Vultures’ 2007 Premiership team.

He was a terrific member of our community both on and off the field and was characterized by his big heart and willingness to help anyone. Vale Chisel and Lynan.”

Residents are being urged by community leaders to help one another in the coming days, weeks, and months. In court today, the 58-year-old bus driver was given bail. As the neighborhood pays respects to those who were hurt or lost their lives, Singleton is providing mental health services.

Tributes flooded social media after his demise news broke out. 

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park’s statement:

The 10 people killed in the Greta bus tragedy included junior doctor Rebecca Mullen, according to NSW Health Minister Ryan Park. “This has made a very dark day even darker for New South Wales Health,” said Mr. Park.

In Cessnock Local Court on Tuesday morning, conditional release was granted to the bus driver, Brett Andrew Button, 58.

A police prosecutor testified before the court in opposition to bail that there was a solid prosecution case and more charges may be brought.

Ten witnesses provided testimony regarding Mr. Button’s continued behavior and reckless driving, she said. The fact sheet claims that as a result, the passengers buckled up.

The club released a statement saying, “We are extremely saddened by the tragic news that one of our former players, Bec Mullen, died in the bus crash in the Hunter on Sunday,” the club stated.

“Bec was an extremely active member of the club, a wonderfully talented sportswoman and a friend to all who knew her.”

To have such a joyous occasion turn so quickly to tragedy is just unimaginably cruel and sad.
We know that several Warrandyte Cricket Club members and families were involved in the accident and that many of our club members have connections with those affected by the crash.

Tragic news that a charter coach has rolled on the roundabout above the Hunter Expressway at Greta, with ten fatalities, eleven people in hospitals in Newcastle and Sydney, and eighteen uninjured. This is a well lit and well constructed two-lane roundabout, and not at all a black spot. The accident occurred at 11:30pm Sunday night, so family and friends are probably still being notified, but being a charter it is likely to comprise people who know each other from a corporate, social, or family group.
