Actor Dwayne Johnson claims Warner Bros. Discovery initially didn’t want Henry Cavill to reprise his Superman role in the newly released DC movie Black Adam.
Johnson praises Cavill’s return in a new video announcing that Black Adam has surpassed Superman as the most popular movie on iTunes. He points out that to make Black Adam one of DC’s most potent characters, they had to bring back “the most powerful, unstoppable force of all time in any universe,” which is of course, Superman.
Cavill appeared as Superman in ‘Black Adam,’ something Johnson “worked hard” for despite Warner Bros’ initial reluctance to bring the actor back.

According to the US-based entertainment news outlet, Johnson recently turned to Twitter to declare Black Adam “the most powerful, unstoppable force in the DC world.”
To accomplish this, according to the DC star, “we have to bring back the most powerful, unstoppable force of all time in any universe. And you guys know who I’m talking about? Of course, that is Superman. And that’s Henry Cavill.”
Johnson then appears to criticize the management of the previous DC Films, stating that, The studio “inexplicably and inexcusably” did not want to bring Cavill back, he continued, but he was still considering it.
“This has been years in the making regarding bringing Henry Cavill back and years of strategic conversations and we were not going to take no for an answer. There was no way, there’s no viable logical way that you can attempt to build out the DC Universe with the most powerful force and the greatest superhero of all time sitting on the sidelines. It’s impossible to do,” Johnson added.
What is the reason behind this?
While Johnson didn’t speak much more about that, he did note that they weren’t going to take no for an answer, and continued to fight for Cavill’s return.
“So that’s why we battled hard to bring Superman back, Henry Cavill, and there was no other Superman, by the way, to bring back Henry Cavill is our generation Superman and in my opinion, the finest Superman,” the former pro wrestler turned actor stated. And I do so with the utmost regard for the other performers, particularly Christopher Reeve.
In the meantime, following his appearance in DC’s “Black Adam” in October of this year, Cavil announced on social media that he would be playing Superman once again in a future Warner Bros.-DC film.
