The club stated that the legendary defender passed away at his home this past Sunday. His playing career regrettably came to an end at the young age of just 31 due to a horrific accident in November 1965 when his leg shattered horribly. Maurice Norman passed away on November 27 despite being diagnosed with cancer and vascular dementia in recent years, but he fought to the very end.
He suffered a double fracture of the tibia and fibula playing for Spurs against a Hungarian Select XI in November 1965, which brought a premature end to his career. Who is Maurice Norman
Maurice Norman, an English football player who played as a centre-half for Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur, played approximately 400 times in the Football League between 8 May 1934 and 27 November 2022. For the England national team, Norman earned 23 caps at the international level.
Even though his time with the team was so brief, he was inducted into the Norwich City Hall of Fame in 2002. He joined Tottenham Hotspur in November 1955 for a transfer fee of £28,000, which also covered the return to Norwich of Ireland forward Johnny Gavin.
