Mass shootings in US:
Customers at the popular neighborhood bar The Whiskey Barrel Saloon told local reporters that it was the type of place where “we hug each other when we get here. We hug each other when we go home. It’s a true family here.”
Following the massacre on Saturday night, the popular bar was added to the increasing list of American venues that have been the scene of mass shootings, which are defined by the Gun Violence Archive as incidents in which four or more people are shot or killed. Since the start of the year, the archive had tallied 136 mass shootings across the US as of Monday.
Lisa Harvey, one of the bar’s regulars, said,
“Quit the killing,”
“One of the guys that passed was a father. These people are fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers, friends, loved ones. Just stop, just stop.”
