Social media is flooded with tributes for Sue Southall who passed recently

St. John’s Community Church’s Facebook page confirmed the death of Sue Southall who has been a huge part of our church & community life for so many years. The statement reads,

It’s with a real sense of shock & deep sadness that we’re sharing the news that Sue Southall passed away on Friday. Sue was helping with us at Little Friends on Thursday but died in her sleep that same night. We’ll miss her terribly, as she has been a huge part of our church & community life for so many years.

Numerous folks will know her from her time running Oscars, & as someone who was always enthusiastically willing to give her time helping with all sorts of groups & events. Sue was a gentle soul, quietly doing so many acts of kindness for people.

She was passionate about her faith, & someone whose love for God shone through in all of her service & care for others. Our hearts & prayers are very much with her family at this time as they grieve her sudden passing, but our grief is also shaped by our gratitude for knowing such a special lady. We’ll share details of her funeral in due course, but for now, please join us in giving thanks to God for Sue, in the knowledge that she now takes her heavenly place with the God she loved & served for so many years. Thank you.

Remembering you Sue. Such a lovely caring person. She taught me a lot and encouraged me with her enthusiasm for me to run Oscars. She was so supportive of everyone who knew her. She helped anyone in need. Had lots of chats whenever she walked passed the house, especially if I was in the garden. I was so shocked when Matt rang to tell me. Indeed, she’s now at peace. RIP Sue and fly high with the Angels. Love and thoughts to Rob, Laura, Jon, and all the family.

Such sad news, have known Sue as a friend and neighbor when I first became a Christian, so many years ago. She was a beautiful soul, who had a love for others and an enormous capacity to care for those in trouble. You were a special lady Sue and will be missed by so many. God bless you and rest in peace in your heavenly home

She has left a big void on this earth, but heaven has gained a treasure. Condolences to her family and friends, I know there are lots. She truly was an inspiration and had a heart of gold. It was a privilege to know her and so grateful that Thursday afternoon at TLC she was her usual happy smiley face. Gonna miss you, Sue, rest in peace.

Was such a shock to hear this news on Friday, Sue was such a lovely lady, it truly was an honor to work with her at the helping hand charity shop while she was there as well as the times she’d still pop in to have a chat and a good mooch round the shop. Rest easy Sue and my deepest condolences to your family and friends at this difficult time.
