How did Questlove’s uncle Junie die?
Questlove announced his uncle’s passing on his FaceBook page today. The message reads,
my dad’s youngest brother passed away. So many memories. A lot of small specific memories. First time I ever saw those tree air fresheners was in Uncle Junie’s car—-that aroma man.
To this day I keep 10 strategically placed in my 1st car—a habit I know I picked up from him. The only other human whose 8 track selection rivaled mine was his. I still collect em —(also still on a mission to find the rare gold-colored #AllNAll from EWF that he had). He taught me how to make omelets & the worlds best thin vanilla pancakes—-and yeah to this day still make em his way.
Both my sis & I sat by him when he used to operate the spotlight for my dad’s show back in the day (when I turned 9 I took over those duties)—-& crucial to my musical development—-back when cable tv was suburbia thing, one needed a trusted household to spend the weekend in.
All of 1983 when one out of every 17 videos was either Michael Or Prince it was Uncle June that allowed me to come to the spot Friday nights watch MTV from 8-2am then wake up at 7am and watch MTV til 11:58am (nothing replaces @SoulTrain) —and then 9 more hours of MTV (I mean I did other stuff too but all of my Duran/Yes/Huey/Genesis/Nena/Madness/Police education had to start somewhere)—-I know at the time it seemed like I wasn’t paying attention or even cared (especially the “get your education Ahmir, pay attention in school! Your dad works too hard for you to be getting these grades Ahmir!”)—-I was always listening and learning.

Cause of death
Questlove didn’t reveal any cause of death for his beloved uncle Junie. So far no cause of death has been made public immediately.

Yes, Uncle Junie will be missed. My heart was broken, but I know uncle is in a better place! He was definitely a mentor to all of us nieces and nephews. Glad you got to make those pancakes with him! 
I had this picture of you two from Uncle Lee’s memorial! I have so many pictures of the uncle! So many great memories. We were all at Aunt Barbara’s house yesterday reminiscing. Rest In Peace Uncle Junie!
