Tamilnadu Medical Counselling 2020

 

NEET 2020 cut off for Tamilnadu government medical colleges was incredibly highTamilnadu MBBS/BDS Counselling for the academic year 2020/21 was conducted in two rounds. Round 1 was conducted between November 18 and December 14 then Round 2 was conducted between January 4 and January 11. There was no Mop Up round counselling in 2020.

Round 1 counselling 2020 – Nov 18 to Dec 14

Round 2 counselling 2020 – Jan 4 to Jan 11

There are a total of 23 Government Medical Colleges in Tamilnadu as for 2020 was concerned. In this, we had about 3300 Medical seats available. So before the counselling starts about 2784 seats were allocated to State Government Quota and the rest of the 516 seats were allocated to AIQ.

 

7.5% Special Reservation in Tamilnadu

 

A new special reservation was implemented for the Government school students in 2020 (7.5% special Reservation). Which reserved about 227 pure Government MBBS seats for Government school students.

 

Total OC seats under 7.5% reservation – 71

Total BC seats under 7.5% reservation – 60

Total MBC seats under 7.5% reservation – 45

Total BCM seats under 7.5% reservation – 8

Total SC seats under 7.5% reservation – 34

Total SCA seats under 7.5% reservation – 7

Total ST seats under 7.5% reservation – 2

 

Total Government MBBS seats in Tamilnadu 2020

 

In Round 1, after the completion of the 7.5% reservation quota and 3 Special reservations, About 2440 pure Government seats were available only for normal students apart from all special reservations.

 

Total no of OC seats present during Round 1 – 557

Total no of BC seats present during Round 1 – 711

Total no of BCM seats present during Round 1 – 95

Total no of MBC seats present during Round 1 – 552

Total no of SC seats present during Round 1 – 417

Total no of SCA seats present during Round 1 – 81

Total no of ST seats present during Round 1 – 27

 

In Round 2, After the completion of the 7.5% reservation quota (8), About 97 pure Government seats were available only for normal students apart from all special reservations.

So in total, about 2537 ( 2440 + 97 ) seats were available last year for normal students who didn’t come under special reservations.

NEET 2019 cut off marks for government colleges in Tamilnadu

Government medical seats in Tamilnadu 2019: 3250 ( KGMC added with 50 seats in 2020 )

  • Total government medical seats surrendered for All India Quota (15%): 506
  • Total government medical seats allocated for State Quota (85%): 2744

The total no of seats surrounded by AIQ is 162 in 2019, Hence the total seats that were available in 2020 are 2767

Total MBBS seats that were available in 2018 in Tamilnadu Government Medical colleges were 3100 (In 2019 a new medical college named Karur Government Medical college was implemented )

Total MBBS seats that were available from Tamilnadu Government Medical colleges in 2017 were 2950 ( In 2019 a new medical college named Pudukottai Government Medical college was implemented )
