“The second officer returned fire, striking [Jackson].”

On-site medical personnel declared Jackson dead. According to MPD at the time, Redd was transported to Regional One Hospital in “extremely critical condition.”

Bishop Brandon Porter, pastor of Greater Community Temple COGIC in Memphis, identified Redd as the cop who fired and killed Jackson. The second officer has not been named. Redd, who Porter referred to as “a kind person,” was a member and the director of security at the Greater Community Temple.
