What happened to Alyssa Lee?

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol accident report, Alyssa Lee, 16, of Carbondale, died as a result of the collision, which happened about 0.5 miles north of S.W. 97th Street.

Scranton man is being held in connection with offenses, including driving under the influence following a tragic head-on collision on US-75 in southern Shawnee County around 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to authorities.

According to jail records, Anthony Ray Tugwell, 40, was being detained on a $50,000 bond on Saturday at the Shawnee County Prison in connection with DUI, aggravated violence while DUI, and driving the wrong way on a split highway.

Anthony Ray Tugwell, 40 was detained and was charged with driving the wrong way and with a DUI. No formal charges had been brought. Tugwell was the driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Impala in the collision.

According to the accident report, the cars involved in the collision were a 2010 Chevrolet Impala driven by Tugwell alone on a divided section of US-75 traveling north in the southbound lanes and a 1995 Dodge Intrepid driven by Lee alone traveling south in the southbound lanes.

The accident report stated that Tugwell was was not hospitalized, while Lee was brought to a Topeka hospital where she was later confirmed dead.

According to jail records, Tugwell was detained around 2:14 a.m. on Thursday at the Shawnee County Jail.
