Marshall Hartman cause of death

Marshall Hartman, of Prescott, Michigan, died from a non-training incident. Officials from the Marine Corps have not yet made any statements regarding the “non-training incident” that resulted in Hartman’s death. Investigators are looking into the death’s cause.

Hartman passed away on April 18, within two months after Marine Pfc. Noah Evans passed away at Parris Island. Evans, age 21, was about to take the last physical fitness exam for his unit when he passed away.

The Marine Corps annually trains tens of thousands of recruits, and deaths during boot camp are rare. Along with Hartman and Evans, three other individuals have passed away at Parris Island since 2021: Marine Pvt. Anthony Munoz, 21, Marine Pfc. Dalton Beals, 19, and Marine Pfc. Brandon Barnish, 26, had completed boot camp and was healing from an injury at the time of his death.

Beals passed away on June 4, 2021, during The Crucible, a testing 54-hour contest that serves as the recruits’ final test. His death was later determined to have been “likely avoidable,” and Parris Island drill instructor Staff Sgt. Steven T. Smiley was charged with negligent murder and other offences concerning Beals’ passing.

On the West Coast during recruit training in recent years, one Marine has also passed away. On September 27, 2022, Pfc. Javier Pong passed away while participating in training at Camp Pendleton in California. At the time of his passing, he had just completed his eighth week of training.
