So sad to hear of the passing of Jim Sweeney, a former great Pitt OLineman who played for more than a decade in the NFL. Sweeney was on the memorable 1979 Seton LaSalle team that won the school’s 1st WPIAL title. Tom Donahoe was the coach and Greg Gattuso was also on that team.

Greg Diulus said,

I have had the pleasure of knowing and becoming friends with many great professional football players. Jim Sweeney was more than a football player and coach. Jim was a loving father and husband, devout Catholic, and wonderful man. Heaven added a great new resident, but our world is poorer because of the loss. Rest In Peace Sweens.

Joe Moore OLine Camp tweeted,

The OLine brotherhood is saddened today as we lost our Coach Jim Sweeney. From his time at @SLS_Football to @Pitt_FB to @nyjets to @Seahawks to the @steelers you mastered the trade and then gave back with all the coaching and camps. Rest In Peace Sweeney.
