Jacob Arellano car accident: According to officials, a wrong-way driver struck and killed a Dallas police officer (Jacob Arellano) as he was on his way to work on Tuesday evening. Let’s see what happened in detail.

 

What happened to Jacob Arellano?

Officer Jacob Arellano, 25, was struck by a vehicle traveling the wrong way at 11:48 p.m. on October 11 when he was traveling north on Spur 408 at West Kiest Boulevard.

According to the police, Arellano was traveling in the center of the three lanes when a sedan traveling in the northbound lanes from the south struck the front left side of his car.

According to investigators, the collision led Arellano’s car to go into the right lane, where a tractor-trailer struck it. His car “rolled a few times and stopped” on Spur 408’s right shoulder.

Police reported that Dallas Fire-Rescue transported Arellano to a nearby hospital, where he subsequently passed away.

The Dallas Police Department wishes to express its deepest condolences to the family of Officer Jacob Arellano, #11729, who passed away this morning from injuries he suffered in a crash. On October 11, 2022, at around 11:48pm, Officer Arellano, traveling to work for the start of his shift, was driving northbound Spur 408 near Kiest Boulevard when the preliminary investigation determined his SUV was hit by a wrong way driver. Officer Arellano was driving in the middle of the three lanes when a sedan going southbound in the northbound lanes hit the off-duty officer’s vehicle head-on.

The crash caused the officer’s vehicle to go into the right lane where it was hit by a tractor trailer. The officer’s vehicle rolled several times and stopped on the right shoulder of Spur 408. The officer was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The wrong way driver was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. At this time, the preliminary investigation has determined the wrong way driver may have been intoxicated. The crash investigation is ongoing.

Officer Arellano, 25, has been a member of the Dallas Police Department since June of 2019. He was assigned to Northwest Patrol Division, 1st watch. Funeral arrangements are pending. Officer Arellano is survived by his parents, girlfriend and infant child. Officer Arellano is also survived by his brother, also a Dallas Police Officer.
