I posted earlier today that Tom Walling was missing. He was found and sadly he has passed away. I thought Tom was a tremendous drummer. I didn’t really know Tom. But, we shared some messages and emails about drums and drumming.He shared some things about seeing me that I really appreciated. I really enjoyed that interaction with him.
I feel terrible for his family and friends, and the musicians that played with him. It’s really sad. R.I.P. Tom.

The missing person, Tom Walling, has been discovered deceased. Tom Walling has been listed as missing from the area since Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
According to reports, he was last seen on November 23, 2022, at 11:02 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s Roxborough district, heading toward Belmar, New Jersey.

The car has some rust but is in fair condition. Sadly, he was discovered and died at the age of 51.

Who was Tom Walling?
Tom graduated from the University of the Arts with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance in 1995 and a Master of Arts in Teaching in 1996.
Tom received two honors for his remarkable performance while he was a student at the university: the Music Educators National Conference Award for Excellence in Teaching (1995) and the Paul D. Patterson Award for Outstanding Percussionist (1995). (1996).
Tom has given master’s classes at Brookdale College, The University of the Arts, and Villanova University.
He has collaborated with a variety of regional and international acts, including Huffamoose, Gerald Veasly, K-Floor, Rosella Washington, Gravy, Peters Cathedral, Michael Dutton, Mia Johnson, Dialects, and Symphony X, and he continues to do so.
He worked as the house drummer for Sonic Recording Studios from 1996 to 1999, producing a large number of songs, commercials, and full-length albums.
Tom has been a percussion instructor at The University of the Arts since being asked to join the faculty in 2004

For a lot of years, Tom, a fantastic drummer, and an all-around great guy was a part of Greg Sover’s band. Tom was a great addition to Greg Sover’s band. Tom was an outstanding drummer on his own. Also, he was and ALWAYS WILL BE considered one of the CRAZIEST people to ever exist. The most honest, insightful, empathetic, and sweetest man you will ever meet, and a musician of unfathomable genius. Tom was a huge influence on musicians because of his never-ending efforts and steadfast dedication to his career.
Tom was the most enjoyable person to be around since he was always up for a joke. Countless people have found great inspiration from him, and even more, people had their lives changed by him while he was still alive.
To put it plainly, learning of his passing is a devastating blow. There is a great deal of sadness today among some of his closest and dearest friends, as well as among everyone involved in the Philadelphia music scene and the music industry as a whole.
Symphony X Band
Guitarist Michael Romeo created the American progressive/power metal group Symphony X in New Jersey in 1994.
The band attracted a lot of notice in the progressive metal scene with their albums The Divine Wings of Tragedy from 1997 and V: The New Mythology Suite from 2000.
Symphony X’s music is comparable to but heavier than, the majority of other progressive metal bands, like Dream Theater, Fates Warning, and Pain of Salvation.
They employ symphonic metal components in addition to playing in a very rhythmic, progressive style. Similar to the music of Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads, and other significant neoclassical metal performers, their music has a strong classical influence.
The group has so far released one live album, Live on the Edge of Forever, in addition to nine studio albums. Underworld, Symphony X’s most recent album, was released in July 2015.

I feel awful for his loved ones, close associates, and the musicians that performed with him. It is very sad. Tom, rest in peace, reads a Facebook tribute.

I got to see Tom play this past Sept. and I didn’t take many photos that night, but I took these 2 of him, we smiled at each other from this view backstage. Never dreaming that this would be the last time I would ever see him. This music scene is BIG. Real big. Lots of connections, will one day mean lots of loss. Some unexpected and some over time.
Every moment together when paths are crossed is a blessing. We aren’t always able to be in the same places, but when we run into each other, please don’t take it for granted. I love you all. Each and every one of my friends and acquaintances in this music scene. We are a village, and we will all get through this devastating loss. Live in the moment with the friends you love.
