How did Craig “Screamer” Powell die?

Craig Powell, a well-known Guitarist who was commonly known as Screamer passed away. His cousin confirmed this sad news by releasing the following statement.

“Today at 2:30pm I was blessed to say for thee last time that I love him & That he was loved by so many people. We prayed & recited Psalms 91. You are free Cousin no more pain no more suffering. I know you’re up there with the family. Everyone was waiting on you with open arms! Until we meet again! Love you Always!”

His friends, co workers and family members have paid their heartbreaking tribute on social media.

Who was Craig Powell?

Craig “Screamer” Powell was the original lead guitarist for Mazarati. In the 1980s, he started his musical journey as a guitarist for the band Mazarati.

He also composed and played the guitar part for Prince’s popular song “Kiss,” and over his career, he has worked on numerous more projects for Prince as well as other musicians and producers.

Powell was a Guitarist who recorded between 1986 and 1989 with Mazarati and The Stylle Band. 

Craig and Mazarati-keyboardist Aaron Paul Keith were members of the band Wayo Dayo in 2006, and Craig also performed with the Westside Band.

Screamer played guitar for Devine Collection, and after he and Jenny released his record “War,” Steve joined his band. He also played for the Purple Xperience.

Musical Journey:

Craig Powell began performing in 1979 and has toured the United States as well as Tokyo, Japan throughout his career.

In addition to performing with Mazarati from 1985 to 1986 and Mazarati 2 from 1986 to 1989, his career gained momentum with the Stylle Band in 1983.

In addition to playing in regional bands like Westside, Smart Mouth, and Mazarati Revisited, he started the band Wayo Dayo.

Prince, New Addition, Sheila E, Alexander O’Neil, Nick St. Nicolas of Steppen Wolf, Aundry Sommon, Michael Bland, Sonny Thompson, Brian Gallagher, Julius Collins, Russ King, and many other notable musicians are just a few of the outstanding artists with whom Craig Powell has collaborated.

He worked as a studio musician in both his own and other people’s studios. In 2012, Craig Screamer Powell formed his own musical group and created the album WAR.

Craig Powell cause of death:

Craig Powell passed away from Acute Necrotizing Pancreatitis on April 12, 2023. He was diagnosed with Acute Necrotizing Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) in 2021.

He experienced an severe illness of this disorder, which progressively becomes worse. Screamer is fed through a TPN IV because he is no longer able to eat by mouth.

He also used biological fluids and used drains and bags. He had experienced several health issues, and his eyesight has been negatively impacted. Screamer experienced frequent hospitalizations and discharges.

Screamer was a robust, vigorous man with boundless energy before this sickness, but this sickness made him weak. A Gofundme page was also organized to support his medical expenses.

Sadly, he passed away on April 12, 2023. Tributes flooded social media after the demise news of Screamer broke out.
