Social media rumors about the football player’s passing spread, but it was former teammate and writer Moisés Muoz who provided official confirmation.
Omar Trujillo, the captain of Monarcas Morelia and a member of the national team, passed away today, sad news, rest in peace, my dear ‘Teco,’ he wrote in his message.
According to Quadrantín, Trujillo died in his native Morelia, Michoacán, due to cardiac arrest while playing soccer with his friends, according to sources close to the soccer player.

Who was Omar Trujillo?
Omar Trujillo was a soccer player who played in teams such as Morelia -where he was champion of the Winter Tournament in 2000-, Atlas, Tigres, and Celaya, a team with which he retired in July 2012.
He made his football debut in 1998 with the red and yellow jersey, and after the victory of the Michoacán team, he began to win the affection of the fans.
In 2004 he became team captain, a position in which he remained until 2009 when he was transferred to Atlas, where he played only 4 games.
After his career as a soccer player, he entered the world of politics, serving as councilor of the Government of Morelia, in the administration of Raúl Morón Orozco, from 2018 to 2021.
