What happened to Jake Flint?
According to his wife and longtime manager, Oklahoma-based Red Dirt country musician Jake Flint passed away at the age of 37.
Tragically, just hours had passed since his Saturday wedding when he tragically passed away (November 26).
Brenda Cline, Flint’s manager, wrote a heartfelt obituary for her client and friend on Facebook. I must announce that Jake Flint has unfortunately passed away, she said, “with a broken heart and in tremendous anguish.” I’ve attempted to post multiple times today, but you can’t remark on something you can’t understand.
With a broken heart and in deep grief I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away. I’ve tried several times today to make a post, but you can’t comment on what you can’t process.
The photo below is when Jake and I excitedly signed our artist management contract. That was the beginning of a wonderful friendship and partnership. Jake was even more than that to me, I loved him much like a son.
The funniest, most hilarious, hardest working, a dedicated artist I have ever worked with in my career. We were just about to embark on some business together after he and Brenda got married- which was yesterday. Yes-yesterday. Jake has a million friends and I’m not sure how everyone will cope with this tragic loss.
We need prayers- it’s all so surreal. Please please pray for his new wife Brenda, Jake’s precious mother, his sister, and the rest of his family and friends. This is going to be incredibly difficult for so many. We love you Jake and you in our hearts forever.
Flint’s new wife, Brenda Wilson, posted video footage from the couple’s wedding day, captioning the post simply, “I don’t understand.”

Following his death, many of Flint’s friends shared remembrances on social media, as did bars and venues where he was a frequent performer. No official cause of death has yet been given. Neither online reports nor any family members revealed any cause of death for Jake Flint till now.

Who was Flint?
Flint, who was born in Mounds, Oklahoma, in 1985, first learned to play the guitar when his father asked some musician friends to teach him the instrument after receiving an ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) diagnosis.
The singer’s website states that those beginnings motivated Flint to start going to bluegrass festivals and ultimately led to him starting to play.
In 2020, he released “What’s Your Name,” his most recent single. While this was going on, Flint had several gigs scheduled for the rest of 2022 and into 2023. He has also become a staple performer throughout Oklahoma, Texas, and other states.

Jake Flint’s admirers swarmed social media with condolence comments after learning of his passing, lamenting the loss of the rising star. “I just learned about it. Jacob, take it easy. You stood out among others. Without you, the world is a lesser place, as one admirer put it.
R.I.P Jake Flint. Unbelievably sad news. Jake was a beloved Green Country musician gone way too soon,” another said. “What a gut-punch man. Jake Flint was a prince of a human being and the world is less without him. Unreal,” added a third.

Kevin said, Steve Liddell introduced me to Jake quite a few years ago via phone. Besides both being involved in music we also both come from a petroleum industry background. We texted back & forth about getting together for lunch to talk shop but we never could get our schedules to line up to meet in person. Fast forward to 10/25/2021 & fate bringing us together at an Amigo The Devil show at The Vanguard in Tulsa.

My buddy Chris West gave me tickets & when I walk in I am greeted by Brad Duniphin who says ”Jake Flint’s here also!” I made a beeline to go over & finally introduce myself. Me, him & our much better halves (Crystal & Brenda) ended up having several rounds of Jameson & enjoyed the show. Last time I saw Jake was at the Oklahoma Music HOF induction for Mike McClure. We greeted each other with a smile & a big hug that will last forever. My heart goes out to Brenda & the families. RIP Ole Jacob Flint…..wish I had known ya longer!
