Who is Jeff Cook?

Jeffrey Alan Cook was born on August 27, 1949, in Fort Payne, Alabama. At the age of 13, he started playing keyboards and the lead guitar in bands. Three days after turning 14 years old, Cook obtained a broadcast license and started working as a disc jockey at a nearby Fort Payne radio station.

He was born with the broadcast bug, which subsequently led to him owning radio and television stations. Cook obtained an electronic technology degree from Gadsden State Community College in Gadsden, Alabama, after graduating from Fort Payne High School, and the American Association of Community Colleges recognized him as an “Outstanding Alumnus.”

Cook cherished the way the radio blended his two passions for music and technology. With the creation of Cook Sound Studios and his residence, “Cook Castle,” located in Fort Payne, one of Cook’s lifelong aspirations was accomplished. He might assist musicians in spreading their music by assisting them in the studio.
Bass fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, besides music.

Cook was pleased to represent Alabama as an official “Fishing Ambassador,” as declared by five governors. The electric double-neck guitar was popularized in country music by Cook. He was a talented musician who could play the piano, the guitar, the fiddle, the bass guitar, the banjo, the mandolin, and anything else that was put in front of him.

On June 9, 1995, he tied the knot with Lisa Williams, the love of his life. Living in “Cook Castle,” aside from Lookout Mountain in Fort Payne, AL, Guntersville, AL, and Destin/Miramar Beach, FL. Cook is survived by his wife Lisa, his mother Betty Cook, his brother David Cook, Crystal Cook, his father-in-law Jerrial Williams, his brother-in-law Randy Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with his loving pups Blazer and Blakely.

Jeff Cook career:

Cook had one of the most prosperous careers in country music history while a member of ALABAMA. Cook, along with his cousins Teddy Gentry and Randy Owen, departed Fort Payne more than 50 years ago to spend the summer performing music at The Bowery, a bar in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Along with his cousins Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry, Cook co-founded the band Wildcountry in 1972. The name was changed to Alabama in 1977. He provided the group’s productions with lead and backing vocals, lead guitar, keyboard, and fiddle. Cook started the band Cook & Glenn and the Allstar Goodtime Band after the band stopped actively recording and performing in 2004.

In addition to his success as a performer, Cook developed Cook Sound Studios, Inc. in his hometown of Fort Payne and Valley Head, Alabama’s WQRX-AM radio station, which he eventually sold. Cook is renowned for his culinary achievements as well; he owned a restaurant and sold his sauce. Cook supported the 2008 campaign for president of former Arkansas.
