It is with great sadness that we would like to inform you that our dear colleague Fintan Farrell has suddenly passed away this weekend.
Fintan was a true warrior, a great leader, and a tireless advocate in the fight against poverty and social exclusion. He was an endless source of inspiration and motivation. It would be no EAPN without his efforts and his endless commitment to our network and our people.

Fintan Farrell cause of death
According to online reports, Fintan Farrell, director of the EAPN, died peacefully at home. No other chronic illness or disease has been reported.
Apart from the fact that his death was confirmed, it is now unknown exactly what caused it, and the reason for his death was not disclosed either.
We are trying to contact Fintan Farrell’s friends and family to find out more about his passing. We’ll update this area as soon as we find out any additional details about the unfortunate incident that caused so many people to cry.
Fintan Farrell: Who was he?
Fintan was a key figure in the development of the Irish Traveller Movement into an effective, locally-based movement. He worked tirelessly to advance the rights of Ireland’s most persecuted minority, with the late Ronnie Fay and John O’Connell as well as many friends.
Fintan served as the European Anti-Poverty Network’s President and Director for several years. He is remembered by activists in Europe’s poorest neighborhoods.
He spent the same amount of time conversing with and listening to victims of our society and the homeless as he did with ministers or commissioners.
In everything he did, he incorporated his sense of humor and singing. The European Social Inclusion Strategy and the protracted battle for the policy changes that have impacted the lives of many may be attributed to Fintan personally.
Later, he gave up his position as Director to focus on developing unique initiatives like the European Minimum Income Network and the European Meetings of People Suffering Poverty, which were both incredibly empowering for emerging grassroots activists.
We will always think of Fintan as a mentor and comrade.
But more than anything, we”ll remember Fintan as one of the kindest, most energetic, and most enjoyable persons.
Tributes flooded with memories by people who knew him from all over Europe and beyond.

EAPN CYPRUS Posted,
Fintan Farell was a great asset for the European Network and Europe in general. He was a man who dedicated his life to the fight against poverty. He was President of the European Network, Director and Project manager of the Minimum Income Program. His loss leaves a big void but at the same time a legacy to all who strive to keep the poor free. He was an inspiration to many activists and loved Cyprus when he visited it. May the soil that covers him be light. Fintan Farrell… an extraordinary person, passionate about defending equality and the right of people to a decent life no matter their background. We learned a lot from you Fintan and your laughter will always remain in our hearts. You can never be forgotten by those you loved and by those who loved, respected, and valued you. We shall never forget you. Rest in Peace dear friend.
