What happened to Dancun Kipngetich?

This morning, police in Machakos are attempting to restrain university students who had vowed to take to the streets on Monday to protest the increase in crime.

The incident follows the death of a third-year student at Machakos University who was attacked by thugs and left with severe brain injuries. According to reports, Duncan Kipngetich was attacked on Thursday night at around 9 o’clock while on campus.

 

The student has a crashed skull, per a scan report acquired by Wananchi Reporting. Paul Mwaniki, a University student, reported that the student was seriously hurt and was taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital before being taken in critical condition to Kenyatta National Hospital.

Machakos University Student Protest

The SAMU (Students Association of Machakos University) said that Duncan passed away on Sunday, December 4, at a hospital.

“Dear Brothers, Duncan Kipngetich, a third-year student majoring in education science (chemistry and mathematics), has regrettably passed away at the Kenyatta National Hospital, according to the information we have received. Insecurity in Machakos

The increased instances of insecurity in Machakos, particularly in the Kathemboni, Eastleigh Katoloni, and Kathayoni estates, have been criticized by the students. Mr. Hassan, the Machakos Town OCS, has encouraged the students to keep calm. Recently, the police detained 14 criminals and found more than 120 stolen cell phones.

The police reportedly maintained a close check on the campus on Monday morning to maintain peace, according to the locals.
