Ms. Finch worked as the weekend weather anchor for the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona, before joining NBC. Before that, she worked as an anchor and reporter for the Youngstown, Ohio, CBS, and FOX affiliates as well as the Austin, Minnesota, ABC affiliate.

At E! Entertainment Television, where she worked as a production coordinator for special initiatives and live events, Finch began her career in television in a behind-the-scenes capacity.

Finch attended Mount Vernon High School and was raised there in Mount Vernon, New York. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science after winning one of the esteemed President’s Awards there.

She later graduated from Syracuse University with a Master of Science in Broadcast Journalism. Ms. Finch graduated from Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology Program and has earned the American Meteorological Society’s endorsement.

Finch enjoys participating in neighborhood events. She has hosted events for the Greater New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, the Westchester Library System, the Mount Vernon High School Hall of Fame, and the JDRF Walk for a Cure.

The American Meteorological Society and the National Association of Black Journalists both recognize Ms. Finch as a member. She is a Westchester County resident.

Elise Finch, a “gifted and consummate professional” meteorologist for CBS-New York, passed away unexpectedly over the weekend, just a few days after going on television.

Heartbroken coworkers and friends are mourning the loss of the meteorologist. Finch passed away at a nearby hospital, according to her employer, New York affiliate CBS station WCBS, which announced on Sunday evening.

Finch began providing the weather forecast on Channel 2 across the Big Apple in 2007. 51 years old. Her reason for death is still unknown.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend Elise Dione Finch Henriques on July 16, 2023.

Elise was a beloved daughter of Mount Vernon who proudly served as an ambassador for our community. She worked for WCBS news for 16 years as a meteorologist.

Elise was the Daughter of James and Charlette Finch, Sister of Kiya Finch-Roberts, Mother of Grace and Wife of Graig Henriques. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Details for her celebration of life are forthcoming.”

Elise was a proud representative of the neighborhood and a beloved daughter of Mount Vernon. She was a meteorologist for WCBS News for 16 years.
