Sgt. Jeremy Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said,

“There is a tremendous amount of work to do. We’re going to be careful with everything we say and everything we do. We’re going to stay focused on the victims and their families,”

Burkett stated that he was unable to provide the location of the adolescents’ arrest or current detention. Burkett refused to provide the number of guns used or the number of bullets fired. He stated that neither the motivation nor the estimated number of shooters has been revealed by the investigation as of yet.

How did the shooting happen?

One block from the courthouse in downtown Dadeville, inside Mahogany’s Masterpiece dance class, a shooting occurred at approximately 10:34 p.m. on Saturday.

Young adults are the majority of those hurt. Few specifics regarding what precipitated the deadly gunfire had been made public as of Sunday evening.

The DJ at the party, Keenan Cooper, told WBMA-TV that when partygoers learned that someone had a gun, the celebration was briefly stopped. He claimed that although persons carrying firearms were requested to leave, none did. The shooting began shortly after.

The wounded had a “wide variety of injuries” ranging from minor to critical, according to ALEA Senior Trooper Jeremy Burkett, who spoke to the assembled media at the Tallapoosa County Courthouse.

Burkett provided a written update on Monday, stating, “Special agents recovered multiple handgun round casings at the location but no high-powered rifle ammo.

In an effort to identify a motive and potential suspects, investigators are still analyzing all of the material and finishing interviews. 32 injuries were reported, an increase from 28. “This is a very fluid situation,” Burkett said. “We are still trying to confirm everyone who was at the scene.”
