Allen Parish crash:

Joshua Dillon Granger, a 21-year-old Kinder man, was killed in a crash in Allen Parish on Friday.

On February 24, 2023, just before 7:00 a.m., troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D were alerted to a single-vehicle collision on LA Highway 383 in Allen Parish, which was located about 7 miles west of Kinder. Joshua Dillon Granger, a Kinder resident, died in the collision. He was 21 years old.

According to the preliminary inquiry, Granger was operating a 2020 Kia Optima as it was moving south on LA 383. The Kia left the road by drifting across the center line and into the oncoming traffic lane. The Kia drove off the road, into a ditch, hit a culvert, and then took off in the air. After taking off, the Kia hit a tree, which caused it to roll over multiple times before the driver was ejected.

Granger suffered severe injuries while unrestrained and was pronounced dead at the spot. This crash may have been caused by speed. Granger provided a toxicological sample that will be used for analysis. Investigations into this collision are ongoing.

Louisiana State Trooper’s Advice to Motorists:

The Louisiana State Troopers would like to use this chance to urge drivers to make wise choices whenever they are operating a motor vehicle. Please buckle up by taking three seconds. Day or night, all seating positions in a vehicle must have the correct restraints in place per Louisiana law. The number one preventable cause of mortality in car accidents is still not using a seat belt.

Troop D has looked into 5 deadly collisions that have claimed 6 lives in 2023.
