According to a news release from Lt. Daniel Vengler of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened around 2:45 pm along Sutherland Dam Road at Slayground Motocross Park.

Authorities claim that the rider crashed his motorbike after jumping on the park ramps. The man was immediately given life-saving care by emergency personnel but was subsequently declared dead at 3:42 p.m., according to Cal Fire San Diego.

According to Cal Fire Captain Brent Pascua, when 9-1-1 received the call, they immediately began instructing the caller on how to perform CPR on the injured man.

Authorities discovered an unidentified man who needed help when they arrived on the scene, but the 29-year-old victim was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened at the exclusive motocross track east of Ramona, close to Sutherland Dam Road, as the rider attempted a jump. Sadly, Pat failed to land the jump, allowing the motorbike to crash into them.

A green motocross bike was parked next to the victim. The man’s name is not officially revealed at this time until the family has been informed by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the X Games website, the facility is privately owned by Encinitas-born motocross rider Axell Hodges and frequently utilized for motocross training and X Games events.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department will look into the crash and accompanying death because it happened on private property.
