Why did Katherine Scouler commit suicide? What happened to the Hawick school teacher? Cause of death and Obituary

Languages instructor Katherine Scouler, 53, of the Scottish border town of Hawick High School, took her own life. No words can adequately explain the sense of loss we feel over her demise, her family announced Friday night, describing themselves as “devastated” by her loss. People are interested in learning why Katherine Scouler committed suicide. Let’s explore what happened to her and the cause of her decision in detail.

Why did Katherine Scouler commit suicide?

Days before her trial, a respected teacher, 53, who was charged with assault for taking a student’s cell phone, “takes her own life.” On Thursday, Katherine Scouler, 53, was scheduled to appear in court about an incident.  Colleagues and residents have been stunned by the passing of Katherine Scouler, 53, the wife of a church minister.

On Thursday, the mother of two was scheduled to appear in court. The instructor of languages is thought to have accidentally caught the student’s hair while trying to take away a student’s cell phone in the classroom.

The lack of help from her workplace, the Scottish Borders Council, is said to have left coworkers “furious.” Her family was devastated by her abrupt death, which happened last night, they added. No words can adequately explain the sadness we feel at her departure.

No words can adequately reflect the sadness we feel in her departure.”

Cause of death

“In an early-morning incident on February 4 in her yard in Hawick, a town 50 miles south of Edinburgh, Mrs. Scouler suffered significant injuries.

Her husband Michael, a Church of Scotland minister and NHS chaplain, found her; she was rushed to Borders General Hospital and later moved to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where she passed away three days later.

Allegation: What happened in the school?

Since being suspended from her position at Hawick High School in October as a result of a police complaint on the event involving the student, Mrs. Scouler had been absent from work.

On January 30, she appeared in Jedburgh Sheriff Court and refuted the allegations that she pulled the girl’s hair and “struck her on the head” with her hand.

The Crown Office said yesterday that Mrs. Scouler would not be the subject of any additional ongoing legal action. We have received a report of this person’s death, a spokesman said. This ends any ongoing legal action against them.

Who was Katherine Scouler?

Mrs. Scouler was referred to by the locals as a “pillar of the town.” Two daughters she and her husband are thought to have—Jenny, 30, and Heather, 28—live abroad.

Mrs. Scouler, who is from Fenland in Cambridgeshire, first met her husband while he was serving with the Royal Highland Fusiliers at a local military installation.”

In an address she gave to the Bright Eyed Daughters in 2018, she referred to Hawick as a “really beautiful corner of the earth with very remarkable people.”

She chuckled that she had “bagged” her “own Scotsman” as she recalled how she had met her husband in Cambridgeshire. After mastering the trombone, she joined the town’s saxhorn band and began working at Hawick High School in 2015.

Tributes by Colleagues and close people

The Borders Council expressed its “great sorrow” over Katherine Scouler’s passing. Her family is in our prayers.  A respected part of the Hawick High School community, Katherine was. Plans have been made to assist colleagues or students who may be impacted by this news.

Last night, Ettrick, Roxburgh, and Berwickshire Tory MSP Rachael Hamilton paid tribute to her and expressed her heartfelt sorrow to her family and friends.

As the local MSP, I am aware that the Hawick community and school are supported. Although a thorough inquiry into this problem is necessary, at this extremely sad time we must make sure her family and friends have the room to mourn their lost loved one.”

No suspicious circumstances reported

“Since October, Mrs. Scouler had been absent from her job at Hawick High School (shown), where she had been suspended following a police complaint on the incident involving the student.

‘We received a call at 3.50 am on February 4 to attend an incident at an address on the High Street, Hawick,’ a spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said. We sent out two ambulances, and they took a female patient to Borders General Hospital.

According to a Police Scotland spokesman, officers responded to a concern for a person call at a property on High Street in Hawick at around 3.55 am on Saturday, February 4.

Following the event, a 53-year-old woman was brought to the hospital. She later passed away on Tuesday, February 7, in a hospital. There are no suspicious circumstances, and the procurator fiscal will get a report.
