How did Stephen Douglas die?

Stephen Douglas, 48, died around 7.30 p.m. on Saturday while partaking in the annual Chivers Memorial Race at Daylesford’s Speedway in the state’s northwest.

After colliding with another driver during a race at Daylesford Speedway in northwest Victoria, 48-year-old Stephen Douglas passed away.

A Drouin Speedway spokesperson stated Douglas “was not only a husband, father, grandfather, he was a mate to many, an advisor, and a great bloke that would help anybody”.

“The Speedway community will sadly miss Dougo and we would like to pass on our condolences to Sandra and the rest of Dougo’s family and friends,” the committee said.

Daylesford crash explained:

Douglas died in a crash that happened at the Daylesford Speedway in Victoria. Hundreds of stunned onlookers reportedly watched as Mr. Douglas’ car crashed into a fence, flipped, and was then struck while upside down by two other drivers, according to online sources.

Onlookers described the crash as “surreal”. Drouin Speedway announced on Sunday, that the Open Standards race on Saturday, February 18th, will be dedicated to Mr. Douglas.

The crash is still under investigation by Victoria Police, who will also produce a report for the coroner.

Who was Stephen Douglas?

Douglas, a Poowong resident and volunteer for the CFA known to friends and family only as “Dougo,” started racing in 1994, nearly 30 years ago.

Mr. Douglas, who worked in the farm sector, was a skilled driver with about ten years of competitive racing experience. He also volunteered at Nyora Raceway.

He also participated in Drouin Speedway and volunteered with the Country Fire Authority in his hometown of Poowong, which is 116 kilometers southeast of Melbourne.

Dean Thompson, a friend, described Mr. Douglas, who was affectionately referred to as Dougo, as a “lovely larrikin” and the “quintessential Australian bloke.”

‘A bonds singlet, a beer, a laugh, and that Mo that made him look like the Solo man, from that ad,’ he said.

Lovely larrikin who would help anybody else before himself. ‘I’m going to miss laughing with Dougo every time we crossed paths.

Stephen Doughlas cause of death:

Stephen Doughlas cause of death was an accident. He died from a fatal crash at the Daylesford Speedway on Saturday night. After being evacuated to The Alfred Hospital with serious injuries, Douglas passed away.

Social media has been flooded with tributes to Douglas. He was remembered as a “great bloke” who would lend a hand to anyone.

Mr. Douglas is survived by his wife Sandra, his children, and his Grand children.
