We are devastated beyond belief. Life is never, ever going to be the same again. Rest Peacefully, darling boy.”

His partner Ryan Gunn posted a photo with Cockton, and Gunn’s followers and fans paid tributes to Cockton in the comments.

Drew’s mother reported that her son died at home quietly, meaning that he was not in the hospital at the time of his death. His medical history is currently unknown, thus it has not been determined whether he passed away as a result of health issues.

I started a 13-bedroom hotel on Manchester’s Canal Street in the gay quarter when I was 23 and just out of college, which was a tremendously idealistic endeavor. I was working 14 to 15 hours a day and adored it, but I was too young and inexperienced to handle the job.

After six months of this, my body began to sag, I fell into the deepest depression I had ever experienced, and at times I even felt suicidal. The company closed after nine months, and the bailiffs appeared. My mother took me to our doctor because she was very worried. Before my diagnosis, I had only ever associated the condition with negative things. If I had a pound for every time I would be a wealthy man and I heard the insult “he’s bipolar” as an insult.

As a side effect of prescribed antipsychotics, I gained weight. Alopecia areata brought on by stress caused me to lose all of my hair at the same time. After my appearance altered so radically, I used alcohol as a survival tactic and a way to enhance my confidence.

When everything finally got to be too much, I returned home so that my mother could take care of me while I recovered. Along with making me gain weight, the first prescription (Abilify) also made me feel perpetually depressed and seemed to dull my senses.

Even though I was just 24 years old, I believed that my best years were behind me and that my life had come to an end. I changed to a different drug (Quetiapine), which was better for me and I controlled my diet and started to exercise.

A year later, I became normal. While there are disadvantages to having bipolar disorder, which I have experienced, I have also profited from it, which makes me grateful for being born the way I am. Two years ago, at this time, I was a depressed manager in the financial services industry who yearned to be able to use his creativity.

I started making scented candles in my kitchen and gave them to my friends and family since I love home fragrances. I started promoting the products on social media and at craft shows after hearing wonderful feedback about them.

The 36-year-old started his business from home six years ago, creating and selling candles on social media, unaffected by what he described as “failure.”

In just 18 months, my company, Owen Drew Candles, has grown significantly and now employs 10 people in Merseyside.
