Why did Isreali forces kill football player Ahmad Daraghmeh ? What happened ? Cause of death Explained

Israeli forces killed a football player Ahmad Daraghmeh and wounded at least 24 Palestinians during a military raid in the northern West Bank city of Nablus. Let’s see more about the incident that happened on the West bank.

What did the Isreal forces done to Ahmed Daraghmeh ?

Palestinian medics say Israeli forces have shot dead a 23-year-old footballer and wounded five others during confrontations in the occupied West Bank.

Ahmad Atef Mustafa Daraghma, 23, a resident of the northern West Bank city of Tubas, died from very serious wounds resulting from Israeli army gunfire. Daraghma, a professional player with the Thaqafi Tulkarem football team, was hit by live rounds in the back and feet.

He was the team’s leading scorer this season, according to the well-known Arabic football website Kooora, with six goals. It wasn’t apparent if he was participating in the altercations.

What happened in the Nablus?

When Israeli troops landed in Nablus, the Israeli military said they had fired at Palestinians who had thrown bombs and fired at them before adding that “suspects” had been hit.

Ahmed Daraghmeh was a member of the Palestinian organization Hamas, which governs the blockaded Gaza Strip, but it is unclear if he was actively engaged in combat at the time of his death.

According to official statistics, Israeli troops have killed 150 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem this year, making 2022 the bloodiest year for Palestinians since 2006.

Palestinian attacks have also claimed the lives of an additional 31 people.

Swept up in World Cup Fever?

In the early hours of Thursday, a sizable Israeli army force swept into the eastern part of Nablus to protect illegal Jewish settlers who stormed Joseph’s Tomb. The gun-toting soldiers opened fire at young men attempting to block their passage, wounding five men.

Two sustained serious injuries from live ammunition, another was hit by a live round in the eye, while two others sustained rubber-coated steel bullet injuries in the hand and head. The Israeli soldiers also showered the young men with volleys of tear gas canisters, causing 19 to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

What did the eyewitness say?

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to Anadolu Agency, a sizable number of Israeli armed troops assaulted the Joseph’s Tomb location east of Nablus to grant entry to settlers so they could offer Talmudic prayers.

Eyewitnesses also reported clashes between the Israeli army and dozens of Palestinians. The holy place, which Jews refer to as Joseph’s Tomb, has frequently been the scene of conflict.

Jews claim that the location is where the biblical patriarch Joseph is buried. Muslims dispute this claim, claiming Sheikh Yussef Dawiqat, an Islamic imam, was buried there two centuries ago.

The deadliest year since 2006

More than 150 Palestinians and over 20 Israelis have been killed so far this year in West Bank and east Jerusalem, according to official figures, making 2022 the deadliest year since 2006. Daraghmeh was an one of the Victim.

”I am gravely concerned by the sharp increase in violence against civilians on both sides, which exacerbates mistrust and undermines a peaceful resolution to the conflict,” Tor Wennes land, the UN’s Middle East envoy told the Security Council on Monday. Wennes land also expressed concern over the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which the world body says constitutes a flagrant violation of UN resolutions and international law.

Some 4,800 housing units were advanced this year in Area C of the West Bank, and the number of housing units advanced more than tripled from the previous year – from 900 units in 2021 to 3,100 units in 2022, he said. He urged Israel to cease the advancement of all settlement activities as well as the demolition of Palestinian-owned properties.

Palestinian body held as a bargaining chip

Meanwhile, Israel’s defense minister said on Wednesday that the remains of a Palestinian prisoner who died a day earlier from lung cancer would not be released for burial.

The 50-year-old Abu Hmaid served as the head of the Fatah militia under Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. After being found guilty of being responsible for the killings of seven Israelis during the second Palestinian Intifada, or revolt, against Israel’s occupation in the early 2000s, he has been serving several life sentences since 2002.

The bones of Palestinians who were purportedly murdered during attacks are frequently withheld by Israel. While rights organizations claim the strategy amounts to a form of collective punishment meted out to mourning families, Israel claims it serves as a deterrence for future attacks and leverage for prisoner exchanges.

Two Israeli prisoners and the corpses of two Israeli soldiers who died in the 2014 Gaza War are being held by Hamas. Palestinian officials had called for Abu Hamid’s release as his health deteriorated in recent months, and on Tuesday blamed Israel for his death.

Gantz denied the allegations that Israel had any involvement in Abu Hamid’s death.
