Love Island’s Former Host Laura Whitmore

Laura has already backed Maya, posting on Instagram the following: “Yes, lady! I’m really happy for you! You’re going to be great.

She made the decision to leave her position as the show’s executive producer after two years in August.

Since 2020, when Caroline Flack, the show’s former host, passed away, the 37-year-old has been the face of both the main program and its spin-off series Aftersun.

She announced the news of her leaving on Instagram, writing: “Some news! I won’t be presiding over the upcoming season of Love Island.

Because of the structure, there are some aspects of the show that I find particularly challenging, such as the frequent trips to South Africa and my competing projects.

I wish it were still feasible, but I’m confident you’ll be in good care. Also, I just intended to stand in for Caroline for a single series, but it grew into three. I hope I did Caroline proudly.

A spokesman for ITV said this in response to the news: “Laura has been a terrific host throughout the last three series of the show.”

We appreciate everything she has contributed to the show, but we also understand and accept her decision. We hope to work with her again on future ITV projects.

Finding a replacement presenter to replace the amazing Laura Whitmore was never going to be simple, according to Paul Mortimer, head of reality programming and acquisitions at ITV2.

“But in Maya Jama, we have another well-known viewer who will be a wonderful addition to the Love Island family.

As Laura and, of course, the sadly missed Caroline Flack did, Maya will also add a distinctive presenting style to the show. She is cool, charming, and charismatic. We are overjoyed to welcome her on board.

After a high-profile relationship with rapper Stormzy that ended in 2019, Jama is believed to have gotten engaged to American basketball player Ben Simmons this year.

Following Whitmore’s resignation announcement, she was named the next Love Island host.

In 2020, Whitmore, 37, was revealed to be a temporary host of the program and its spin-off series Aftersun. After Flack, the original host passed away, the change was made permanent.

Since 2015, Whitmore’s spouse, the comedian Iain Stirling, has narrated the show. Ekin-Su Culculoglu, an Essex-born Turkish actress, and Italian entrepreneur Davide Sanclimenti won the 2022 series.

It was previously confirmed that there will be two series of Love Island next year. The first will air in the winter, with the contestants heading back to South Africa, and the second will air in the summer and will return to Majorca.
