An Oklahoma morning news presenter who had the first signs of a stroke on live TV over the weekend claims she is improving. Let’s see who is Julie Chin.

Who is Julie Chin?

New York-born Julie Chin relocated to Oklahoma 20 years ago. She earned her degree from Syracuse University, where she focused on broadcast journalism, and she also finished Mississippi State University’s geosciences programme.

She worked at a number of television stations before joining KJRH’s 2 News Oklahoma Weekend Today programme, including WCBS-TV, WCTI, WXII, and WBOY.

What happened to Julie Chin?

Over the weekend, Oklahoma news presenter Julie Chin experienced what she describes as the “beginning of a stroke” while delivering the news live on television.

Chin, a reporter for NBC affiliate KJRH, started stumbling over her words while covering the attempted launch of NASA’s Artemis I rocket on Saturday morning.

She apologizes to everyone and says “I’m sorry, something is wrong with me this morning,” according to a video of the incident, before handing it off to the station’s meteorologist.

What does chin say on her Facebook page?

Chin says in a lengthy Facebook post published on Sunday that she “felt terrific before our event” and that “the episode seemed to have come out of nowhere.”

She claims that as the program got going, she started to have vision loss in one eye and numbness in her hand and arm.

“When my mouth refused to say the words that were there in front of me on the teleprompter, I realized I was in serious trouble. You would have seen how hard I tried to move the show along if you had been watching on Saturday morning, Chin wrote.

When did Chin transported to hospital?

Chin was transported to a hospital and subjected to “all sorts of tests” after her quick-thinking coworkers dialed 911.

Doctors currently believe that I had a partial stroke rather than a complete one. I should be alright, she reassured readers, adding that there are still a lot of unanswered concerns and things to follow up on.

Chin continued by sharing crucial knowledge she has gained as a result of her experience, mentioning the acronym BE FAST, which can be used to recognize the signs of a stroke.

The acronym BE FAST represents the words balance, eyes, face, arms, speech, time, and excruciating headache.

What is the reason for stoke?

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada advises people to pay close attention to the FAST symptoms because an early diagnosis and treatment of these symptoms can significantly improve stroke outcomes.

According to the foundation, nearly 80% of premature stroke and heart disease can be avoided by leading a healthy lifestyle, despite nine out of ten Canadians having at least one risk factor for either condition.

Stroke risk factors include smoking, poor eating habits, excessive substance misuse, stress, being overweight, and leading a sedentary lifestyle. Other health issues that are thought to increase the risk of stroke include diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.

Stroke is the third most common cause of death in Canada, and more than 62,000 strokes occur each year, according to the most recent data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information.
