Who is Cesar Santana?

Cesar Santana was a New Jersey man who has just been arrested and charged with the murder of his ex-wife, Luz Hernandez.

He’s being charged with concealing a corpse after her body was found in a shallow grave in Kearny.

As a wanted person from Hudson County, Santana was being kept in custody in Miami-Dade County, according to jail officials.

According to the victim’s relatives, the estranged husband of a cherished Jersey City kindergarten teacher and mother who was discovered buried in a shallow grave has been detained as a suspect in the homicide investigation.

“An arrest has been made in connection with the death investigation of Luz Hernandez,” the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office tweeted on Friday.

Although “more to follow,” the note made no mention of the suspect or their claimed involvement in the tragedy.

However, the teacher’s family informed that in the early hours of Friday that Cesar was arrested.

What happened to Luz Hernandez?

Luz Hernandez, a 33-year-old mother of three who had mysteriously skipped work at the Beloved Community Charter School the previous day, was discovered in a shallow grave in a barren industrial section of Kearny on Tuesday.

Hernandez, who went missing earlier this week, had the autopsy results shared with the public just hours before the news.

On Thursday, her death was considered to be a homicide. Investigators discovered compressions to her neck as well as signs of blunt force trauma to her skull. The case had changed from a missing person inquiry to a homicide.

On Thursday, family members urged Santana to speak up and respond to inquiries, suggesting that he would have been one of the last people to see Hernandez alive while visiting their three kids on Saturday morning. Two of them are studying at the same school where their mother works.

Authorities tried to arrest Santana at a motel in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, according to two law enforcement sources, but he wasn’t there when they got there. He was discovered by them in Florida.

There were no further details offered. Details of the extradition were not immediately revealed. Information about the attorney was also unclear.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office had just confirmed an arrest earlier on Friday.

Police looking for another suspect:

An arrest warrant has been issued for another in connection with the death investigation of Luz Hernandez, 33, of Jersey City, who was found deceased in Kearny, according to the officials.

Officials says, Cesar Santana, 36, and Leiner Miranda Lopez, 26, both of Jersey City, are each charged with one count of Desecrating/Concealing Human Remains in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:22-1, a crime of the second degree.

The investigators are looking now for 26-year-old Leiner Miranda Lopez in connection with Luz’s murder.

Miranda Lopez has not yet been apprehended and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345.

This investigation is active and ongoing and no additional information will be released at this time. Additional charges and/or arrests may be expected.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, the Jersey City Police Department, the Kearny Police Department, the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, the United States Marshals Service Southern District of Florida, the United States Marshals Service Middle District of Pennsylvania, the New Jersey State Police, and the Pennsylvania State Police with the investigation and arrest.
