In Milwaukee on Friday night, a USPS employee was shot and killed while delivering mail, according to authorities.
Around 5:59 p.m., according to Milwaukee police, officers responded to reports of a wounded person in the 5000 block of N. 65th Street.
According to the police, the victim was shot and died right away.
A 44-year-old guy who was working for the US Postal Service was eventually revealed to be the victim. Police stated he has worked for USPS for more than 18 years, though his name has not been made public.
U.S. Postal Inspection Service also confirmed the victim was a postal carrier, according to Fox 6 Milwaukee.

Reason behind the shooting
Although the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown, police said an investigation is ongoing.
The FBI and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are supporting Milwaukee police in their investigation.
Following the shooting, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson issued the following statement:
“The shooting death of a Milwaukee postal worker is alarming. My thoughts are with the victim’s family and colleagues.”
“The postal worker in this homicide was a public servant, which makes this crime even more disturbing. Criminals responsible for death and harm in our city must be held accountable.”
“To accomplish that, anyone with information about this crime, or other serious crime in Milwaukee, should step forward.”

Information about suspects or motives was not made available by the investigators. The investigation is being handled by the US Postal Inspection Service.
