Edmonton police officers were killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic call, EPS confirms. The two officers were shot, according to the multiple sources. However, the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident were not known.

“The Edmonton Police Service is mourning the loss of two of its patrol officers who were killed in the line of duty, while responding to a call earlier today,” according to a statement from a police spokesman, Scott Pattison.

A spokesperson for EPS said more information would be released later in the day once it was verified. Chief Dale McFee will release a statement soon.

A resident of Baywood Apartments told that he didn’t hear anything over the course of the night and was shocked to see police stationed outside his house when he departed for work the next day.

“It’s frightening. I’m very worried about it. My child’s safety. I’ve never had this problem here,” Tom Deagle said.

“We’re trying to get out of here, out of this neighborhood, because it’s constantly stuff, but I’ve never seen to this extent. It’s pretty worrying.”

Along with closing 132 Street, police have blocked restricted access to Baywood Apartments. Various police departments have paid their heartfelt condolences to the police officers.
