Who was Thailand princess Bajrakitiyabha?

She qualifies for the throne in accordance with a 1924 Palace Law of Succession since she is one of the three offspring of King Vajiralongkorn who hold official titles.

The succession to the throne has not yet been announced by King Vajiralongkorn. Princess Bajrakitiyabha was born to then-Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn and his first wife Princess Soamsawali Kitiyakara in Bangkok’s Dusit Palace on December 7, 1977. She turned 44 last week, which was a milestone.

Also, she completed her post-graduate legal studies at Cornell University in New York after completing her undergraduate legal studies at Bangkok’s Thammasat University.

She has worked extensively on policies and initiatives to support female prisoners throughout her career, spending the majority of it with the Office of the Attorney-General in Thailand.

In addition, from 2012 to 2014, she served as Thailand’s ambassador to Austria and as a national UN Women ambassador. She was given the title of General and named Chief of Staff of the Royal Security Command last year.

How is the princess’s health condition right now?

Here is what we know so far about the health emergency suffered by Princess Bajrakitiyabha yesterday.

While running with her dogs in Khao Yai national park she had a heart attack. She is only 44 years old. She was initially taken to Pak Chong Nana Hospital where CPR was attempted for hours without success. Vajiralongkorn was rushed to the hospital in a military helicopter.

A decision was made that the only viable option was to fly her to Bangkok for ECMO treatment, which is a way of keeping people alive when their hearts and lungs cannot function.

In the early hours of today, hospital helicopter HS-BHQ took off from Pak Chong to Chulalomgkorn Hospital. The helicopter unusually did not file details of its location of departure and destination but the flight path could be tracked.

According to witnesses who saw them fly overhead, the hospital helicopter was flanked by two military helicopters. One of these presumably was carrying Vajiralongkorn.

Prime minister Prayut Chan-ocha was in Brussels for an EU-ASEAN summit and was scheduled to leave on Thursday, but left early and is heading back to Thailand.

Royal sources say the prognosis for the princess is very grim and it’s very unlikely she will ever recover. But she could potentially be kept artificially alive via ECMO for weeks or even months while the regime figures out what to do.

These events have huge repercussions for the Thai monarchy because it was assumed Bajrakitiyabha would be the next monarch or would be regent for her younger half-brother Dipangkorn who has autism and will not be able to reign alone. Meanwhile, we hope the princess makes a full recovery but according to the sources this seems extremely unlikely.

Is the princess dead or alive?

According to reports, King Vajiralongkorn traveled by helicopter to be with his 44-year-old daughter. who became ill in Khao Yai, which is northeast of the Thai capital Bangkok.

Also, as per the reports, the princess fainted while exercising in the park early one morning with her pet dogs. Princess BajrakItiyabha reportedly underwent extensive CPR, but she was unable to be saved.

Up until now, there has been no official confirmation. According to The Daily Mirror, she is currently using an oxygen machine. Moreover, as per the sources, military helicopters have been seen returning to Bangkok from Khao Yai unusually late at night on Wednesday.
