Romero “Sparky” Watkins Jr. was murdered in Hammond earlier this month, and two people have been detained and charged in connection with the crime. Let’s see about it in detail.

 

What happened to Romero “Sparky” Watkins Jr.?

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said that a 26-year-old male was killed early on Saturday morning (April 15) in a remote region of western Hammond.

Hammond resident Romero Watkins Jr. was named as the victim. Chief Jimmy Travis stated that a homicide investigation was underway in regard to Watkins’ death but offered no other information on the manner of the killing.

Watkins was murdered “in the early morning hours” at the junction of Wardline and Durbin roads, according to the TPSO’s succinct statement.

Suspects Arrested:

With the murder of Romero “Sparky” Watkins Jr., a man and a woman are now in custody.

Deputies from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office discovered 26-year-old Romero “Sparky” Watkins Jr. dead in the driver’s seat of his automobile on Saturday (April 15) near the junction of Wardline and Durbin Road.

Detectives were able to identify Jervarion “Jay” Smith, 25, as a suspect in the homicide after conducting more research. One count of second-degree murder and one count of obstructing justice have been filed against him.

Lagaria “Breezy” Bryant, 20, who is thought to have helped Smith in some way during the event, was also detained in connection with the case. Bryant is accused with obstructing justice on one count.

Romero Watkins, a resident of Tickfaw and a native of Hammond, Louisiana. Romero loved both pets and fast automobiles.
