Slidell shooting:

The gunshot in the 1400 block of Gause Boulevard was reported just after 10:30 p.m., according to Slidell Police Department (SPD) officials.

Tavante Williamson, 26, was discovered at the site with a gunshot wound. He was brought to a nearby hospital, where he subsequently passed away.

Chief Administrative Officer Daniel Seuzeneau said in a news release,

“Police responded to the 1400 block of Gause Boulevard after receiving reports of a shooting.

Officers located the victim, 26-year-old Tavante Williamson, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Williamson was rushed to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.”

Williamson and Jamiel Naquon Miller, 26, engaged in a heated discussion before Miller grabbed a gun and shot Williamson in the chest, according to the SPD.

After advising locals along and near a section of Gause Blvd. to stay inside as they looked for a shooter, police in Slidell gave the all-clear overnight.

The cops posted to social media,

“Slidell PD are currently working an active crime scene (shooting) in the 1400 block of Gause Blvd.,”

“If you live in the neighborhoods off of Rue Rochelle/Rue Miramon /Independence /Lakewood /Florida /Brugier… Slidell Police K-9 will be in the area.

Please stay indoors and immediately report any suspicious activity to 911.”

Around 11:00 pm, that message was delivered. After almost 90 minutes, Slidell PD released an update.

“Areas previously mentioned are clear. We will have a full update at some point tomorrow morning/early afternoon.”

Wanted Suspect on the run:

The 25-year-old Jamiel Naquon Miller is wanted by SPD. Seuzeneau claims that Williamson was shot and killed at roughly 10:30 p.m. by Jamiel Naquon Miller.

Following the incident, Miller was the target of a manhunt.

In a Facebook post, Slidell police advised the neighborhood’s residents to remain indoors as officers and a K-9 combed the area.

“Miller and Robinson were having an argument, which resulted in Miller pulling out a gun and shooting Robinson in the chest. After the shooting, Miller fled the area on foot. An intensive manhunt ensued but yielded negative results. Investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for Jamiel Miller for one count of Second Degree Murder. Miller is considered to be armed and dangerous.”
