Ron Jackson Former Fox 4 Dallas Meteriologist died

Ron Jackson, a meteorologist for FOX 4 Dallas, passed away at the age of 67. He worked with the FOX 4 weather crew for more than three decades. The loss of a renowned meteorologist has shocked the FOX 4 news team, as well as his friends and family.  Here is what is known about Ron Jackson’s career and how he passed away.

Ron Jackson died: What happened to him?

Ron took tremendous pleasure in and excelled at the duty of lifting the spirits in the newsroom with his humor, quick wit, and countless well-known one-liners that everyone who knew Ron or worked with Ron could quote.

He provided weather forecasts and warnings consistently and amicably for more than 35 years at FOX 4.

The heartbreaking news was announced on Facebook by Chief Meteorologist Dan Henry at KDFW FOX 4. He wrote the following statement,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of former FOX 4 meteorologist Ron Jackson. Ron spent more than 35 years at FOX 4 delivering weather forecasts and warnings in his steady, easy-going manner.

In the crazy, stressful world of TV News, Ron delighted and excelled in lightening the mood in the newsroom with his humor and sharp wit, and several famous one-liners that anyone who knew or worked with Ron could rattle off.

Ron’s favorite lunch and dinner spot was El Fenix…that’s Mike Doocy and I enjoying dinner with Ron at “The Fen” in downtown Dallas. Ron retired from FOX 4 several years ago and has spent the past several years enjoying the peace and tranquility of East Texas.

Ron passed away at the very young age of 67…way too soon! Rest in peace Ron…you will be missed!

About Ron Jackson’s Career

On Fox4, Jackson had worked the weekend shift and stepped in when needed. David Finfrock, who joined NBC5 in 1975, is still regarded as the region’s foremost temperature taker.

He started working for the station in 1975, and he still hosts the weekday newscasts at 5 and 6 o’clock. By the time he departs on an as-yet-undetermined date, Finfrock will have worked at NBC5 for more than 40 years thanks to a contract he signed with the network in August 2012.

Sports anchor Mike Doocy, news anchors Richard Ray and Natalie Solis, and Jackson were present at the anchor desk for Jackson’s final Fox4 newscast.

Doocy gave Jackson a pee wee football and a miniature Nerf basketball as parting gifts, citing Jackson’s numerous victories in in-station Nerf basketball matches.

Ron Jackson cause of death

Ron Jackson, a longtime fixture on local television over the 32 years that FOX 4 grew to be the most-viewed station in the region, passed away at the age of 67.

He was a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many with his warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit. Words cannot fully express the depth of his family’s loss and the void that his departure has left behind.

Nearly ten years ago, he retired. Please remember Bobby Osborne’s family in your prayers. The precise reason for Bobby’s demise is still unknown.

Did Jackson have any illness before passing?

According to information dated February 10, 2014, Jackson retired from his career after 32 years due to medical issues. He spoke about his health difficulties upon retirement, which are detailed here.

The D-FW market’s second longest-standing weathercaster, Ron Jackson, announced his retirement from Fox4 on Sunday’s 9 p.m. newscast after a 32-year stay.

Jackson said that knee surgery and last summer’s kidney stone removal had persuaded him that “time is a little bit short. I’d better retire at an early age of 57 years.”

He’ll still reside in North Texas but plans to travel a lot, Jackson said. “I’m just gonna take it easy the rest of my life.” He thanked Fox4 management for a “great, great retirement package.

As soon as new details become available, we’ll update this article. Moreover, the family’s privacy must be respected even though attempts are being made to compile pertinent information and promptly deliver the most recent updates.

Ron Jackson was my friend. When I worked in Dallas he was at the competition. Good guy, funny. I can’t believe he was only 67. He retired here in East Texas. Rest In Peace, brother.

It’s hard to believe former FOX 4 Weather meteorologist Ron Jackson has passed away. He died today and his weather partner announced it, sharing warm memories on his page. Ron was only 67 years old. I hate how we tend to lose track of work friends who we were with nearly every day for years and years. God speed Ron Jackson!

Curious as to why it hasn’t been mentioned on the 9:00 news yet. He was such a big part of Channel 4 news. I would think he deserves to be mentioned.

  1. I worked with Ron Jackson for 9 years and this is the first time I am hearing about his death. I just hope this isn’t “fake” news. Amy Bradshaw

  2. The reason I think this is not true is because they are all saying he was 67. His birthday is December 29th, 1956. He was 17 days older than me and was 66; not 67. Amy Bradshaw
