What happened to Peter Hardy?

Actor from “Neighbours,” 66, was discovered dead on an Australian beach days after arriving from London. The actor drowned on Thursday in Fremantle, a town near Perth, Western Australia, and was later discovered dead on a beach there.

Local news sources claimed that Peter had traveled from London to Perth to see his mum. He reportedly got into difficulties while snorkeling at South Beach in Fremantle. Nobody knows with certainty how Peter passed away.

Cause of death

The Precise reason behind Peter’s death is unknown at this time. On Friday, his brother Michael posted on social media to announce the devastating news:

“I’m devastated to say that my brother, Peter Hardy, passed unexpectedly this morning. My beloved little brother, rest in peace.

Before paramedics came, bystanders at a Perth beach made a last-ditch effort to save Peter’s life by administering CPR in the sand. The actor was unable to be saved by emergency personnel, and he passed away at the place.


Who was Peter Hardy?

Peter Hardy was an Australian actor, musician, and theatre performer. He was born in Perth, Western Australia on 11 January 1957. In 1969, he started playing the French Horn in the CCGS Orchestra.

Hardy began his career on stage in the show “Revue – The Other Opening”. More recently, he performed in “An Officer And A Gentleman” at the Sydney Lyric Theatre under Simon Phillips’ direction.

With The Pursuit of Happiness, Hardy launched his film career in 1986. Following that, he appeared in numerous films, TV movies, TV series, and short films.

He appeared as Phil Rakich in 44 McLeod’s Daughters episodes from 2006 to 2009. More recently in 2012, he played in a TV movie, Dangerous Remedy, playing Robbie McGregor.


Tributes poured in for Peter Hardy 

Following the terrible actor’s passing, condolences have begun to flow in.

Peter’s friend Ross Anderson wrote: “This news is such a heartbreaking shock. He’ll be held in the wide arms of the ocean he grow up beside, and in the hearts of all those he welcomed into his vital and witty orbit. Sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.”

DG Whyte said: I had one of my best scenes on McLeod’s with Peter…very sad to hear this. A huge loss to the acting world and a very nice man, Rest In Peace

Another friend, Andy Burns said: “On the morning of March 16th a dear friend was taken from us… the amazing and beautiful Peter Hardy drowned while snorkeling at South Beach Perth.

“He was 66 years old and looked like a Greek god, so fit, and so happy to be back in his native WA visiting from London where he had made his home. “Words cannot express how deeply I feel this loss, We’ve been close friends since living together in Neutral Bay Sydney in the mid-80s.

“He was a superb actor a wonderful singer and a guitarist he also played drums and sax. He always loved performing in the theatre as well as in film and TV. He decided to buy a canal boat in London which he set up beautifully with some recording gear and he’d send me guitar tracks recorded there to add backings too.

“Heartfelt condolences to all his family and many friends over this devastating loss especially his beautiful girlfriend Lysa our thoughts are with you… “Vale dear friend Peter Hardy RIP.”
