Peggy Stoutmeyer was raised in Pensacola, Florida, after being born on June 25, 1948, in Opp, Alabama. Scott toured with Ben E. King throughout the beginning of her career.
With “Lover’s Holiday” (July 1968) (#19Can. ), “Pickin’ Wild Mountain Berries” (November 1968) (#31Can. ), and “Soulshaker” (February 1969) (#36Can.) as a duet act with Jo Jo Benson, she reached the Top 40 three times.
These singles were all made available through SSS International Records. Shortly after that, having left the music business in the late 1960s, she was performing in lounges in Pensacola, Florida, before relocating to California and getting married to Robert L. Adams Sr.
