She battled this illness for a very long period and with all of her strength. Everyone who had the opportunity of getting to know Miriam Mayer thought of her as an inspiring person. Miriam was not only a loving wife and a caring mother, but she was also a talented composer and violinist. It was commonly recognized that she was an expert in both of these fields. Many of the most accomplished musicians active during the time in question frequently performed her tunes. We want you to know, Miriam. There are a lot of people who care a great deal about you and will miss you very greatly. The loss has left us feeling as though our hearts have been torn into a million tiny pieces. Saddened by her departure. Not only was she a gifted musician, but she was also an outstanding person who stimulated the creative abilities of everyone around her. RIP Miriam. Miriam Mayer- Versatile Composer
Miriam Mayer assisted 5-time Oscar-winner John Williams. Many of his classic scores including, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, STAR WARS THE PHANTOM MENACE, and CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.
An experienced and versatile composer, she scored the award-winning horror features, BUGS: A TRILOGY and BLOOD OF THE MUMMY; the award-winning feature documentary about child marriage, KNOTS; the soon-to-be-released feature documentary, GOD ON THE STREET; and the soon-to-be-released horror feature, THE UNCANNY. Miriam is the winner of BEST MUSIC SCORE at the OVERCOME FILM FESTIVAL and BEST MUSIC at the INDIE HORROR FILM FESTIVAL.
Miriam’s compositions are often heard in films and television shows including UNIVERSAL PICTURES’ HALF BROTHERS; THIS IS US; CHELSEA; YOUNG SHELDON; SNOWFALL, HALT AND CATCH FIRE; and RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE. She is a voting member of the EMMYS Television Academy.
Her violin and viola grace several hundred film scores, including Oscar-winner Michael Giacchino’s scores to RATATOUILLE and UP. Miriam is a native of Los Angeles and is currently the worst surfer on Malibu beach.

My friend Miriam has left us. I’m heartbroken. Miriam was an incredibly talented composer who generously provided the perfect music for a number of my short films. She would always find time to help me with my dinky projects even though her real jobs had her working with John Williams on many of his blockbuster movies.
Miriam was taken from us far too young. Screw your cancer. You will be always loved and greatly missed, Miriam Mayer. I’m so blessed that we were friends. She is survived by her husband Jim and their daughter. If you knew Miriam, keep her family in mind.
