Who was Matt Bolton?

Matt Bolton was the director of famous Oete Goat Farm. Oete Farm considered the biggest goat farm in New Zealand, is situated in the gently sloping hills of Patumhoe, a tiny settlement in the South Auckland area.

The company, run by Matthew and Sarah Bolton, has been creating high-quality goods with an emphasis on sustainability, creativity, and a strict standard of animal health for seven years. With the development of their two estates, Oete Farm and Oakdale Farm, Matthew and Sarah have come a long way.

Initially, Oete Farm served as a dairy cow milking facility. Since then, they have developed it into one of New Zealand’s top goat farms, laying the foundation for the dairy goat sector. Their initial acquisition, Oete Farm, which spans a total of 273 hectares, was followed by the addition of the nearby Oakdale Farm, which is currently in its second season of production, to their property.

Together, the two farms, which are operated as a single entity, raise about 5,700 goats for milk production. Two distinct milking stations—a 56-bail rotary on Oete Farm and an 80-bail rotary on Oakdale Farm—are used to milk their goats. In order to handle and take care of the burden, Punchbowl Kiwifruit Services was used by Matthew and Sarah to purchase 10 hectares of kiwifruit on their farm.

The Ballance Farm Environment Awards last year recognised Matthew and Sarah as the Auckland Regional Supreme Winners, recognising their excellent goat farming enterprise.
